Abstract

This study evaluated the level of knowledge regarding water intake in sixth-grade students before and after receiving educational training at the Estado de Qatar School, Panama. A quasi-experimental study with a cross-sectional design was conducted, using a pre-test and post-test questionnaire. The sample consisted of 51 students, who were evaluated on aspects related to hydration, the recommended number of glasses of water, and the consequences of not hydrating properly. The results showed that, in the pre-test, 80% of the students had low knowledge about water and its benefits, whereas, after the educational intervention, 90% reached a high level of knowledge. These results suggest that the training significantly improved students' understanding of the importance of adequate water intake for their health.
