Abstract

The cultural richness of our original peoples is very interesting, not only because of their beliefs, way of living and clothing, but because of the meaning and importance, that makeup contains in the Embera woman. The Emberá people are one of the seven ethnic groups of Panama.

The objective of this essay is to raise awareness of the importance of redeeming facial makeup and body as an act of identity and forms of expression of their worldview and culture. This awakening of cultural awareness, somewhat lost among the young Emberá, who, for reasons of exodus from their place of origin, they have been forgetting their roots and/or becoming acculturated, and it is in turn, for the other people, cultural information that allows understanding, valuing and admiring, the sense of their designs, importance and meaning of beauty, typical of this indigenous group.
