Abstract

This essay seeks to reflect on what it means to have a name in an indigenous culture since it has connections with history and meanings related to a context and the nature surrounding them. This importance can be embodied in anthropological, historical, and other texts, where they speak from the author’s perspective about their vision reflecting their identity through a name. However, here we speak from a very personal perspective, recognizing oneself as a descendant of an ancestral culture and what names represent, giving more strength to who I am as an indigenous woman.

Consequently, the recognition of our ancestry and the value with which we recognize ourselves will strengthen us. Knowing the name as an ancestral legacy implies a lived history and another to preserve.
