Abstract

The research aimed to find evidence of human activity in pre-Hispanic Natá and determine the possible location of the population site known as Nataes, which was discovered by the Spaniards in 1515. This study used a non-experimental design with a type of historical, documentary, cross-sectional, and descriptive study.

The results of this investigation allow us to assess the situation of the Nata Pre-Hispanic deposits and evidence of the serious problem in the management of cultural resources. It is argued that the presence of archaeological materials on both banks of the Chico River and along the Inter-American Highway suggests that the ancient indigenous citadel occupied a larger area than the current Natá, which is limited to the north bank of the Chico River in the province of Cocle.
