Assessment of Knowledge, Attitudes, and Practices Regarding Mental Disorders: Content Validation Los Santos 2023

This study highlights the importance of validating the mhGAP instrument as a fundamental tool for strengthening the knowledge, attitudes, and practices of non-specialist health care personnel, with the aim of reducing gaps in the care of people with mental disorders in the Los Santos Health Region. The objectives of the research were to measure the instrument’s validity regarding the clarity of the items, determine content validity based on relevance, and calculate the validity coefficient regarding the wording and relevance of the items. Methodologically, content validity was assessed using the Content Validity Coefficient (CVC), considering the criteria of clarity, relevance, wording, and appropriateness. The results showed CVC values of 0.871 for clarity (good level), 0.89 for relevance (excellent level), 0.89 for wording (good level), and 0.90 for relevance (excellent level). Overall, the instrument demonstrated a content validity level ranging from good to excellent, supporting its applicability in the primary care setting. It is concluded that the mhGAP instrument is a valid and relevant tool for strengthening the competencies of non-specialized health personnel in the comprehensive management of mental disorders, thereby contributing to the improvement of the quality of mental health care. 61 === PAGE 2 === Redes Núm. 19 ene-dic., 2027 | Revista Científica de la Universidad Especializada de las Américas | ISSN 2710-768X
